From Ice to Dust
A public lecture by Dr Mike Stroud OBE, Senior Lecturer in Medicine & Nutrition and a Consultant Gastroenterologist, University of Southampton
Mike’s presentation ranges from his journeys with Sir Ranulph Fiennes on foot to both the North and South Poles to being the first Briton to run the ‘Marathon of the Sands’ (a trans-Sahara multi-marathon); participation in ultra-distance ‘Eco-Challenge’ adventure races and running 7 marathons, in 7 days on 7 continents. He illustrates these ventures with stunning pictures from around the globe and incorporates both science of performance at extremes and humour since he has never been someone to take himself too seriously.
